The Next Bambu Lab 3D Printer Won’t Arrive Until 2025.
In a press statement today, Bambu Lab are announcing their new flagship 3D Printer won’t come this year - Here’s What We Know!
We’ve all been waiting for the next Bambu Lab flagship 3D printer that was promised to us from Dr Tao, the CEO of Bambu Lab. Speculations were that we would see it soon, maybe around black Friday or before.
With todays press statement from Bambu Lab, the deadline is pushed back to “Early 2025” due to several factors.
Bambu Labs sky-high expectations
The main reason Bambu Lab communicates for the delay is that it will allow them to “integrate several innovative features and ensure the product meets our high standards before release”.
Which sounds like things aren’t ready on the level we, the customers would expect. I’m sure it works, and some reviewers may have tried it already. But it wouldn’t be the same success and as reliable as the X1 were are launch.
Bambu Lab 2025 3D Printer details.
In the statement we get a few interesting details, some that contradict each other.
“This new series is aimed at prosumers demanding top-tier performance and innovation in 3D printing”. This means we’re getting more than 1 new “do it all” 3D printer, and is aimed at prosumers (professional consumers).
“It'll sit above our current X1 Series, bringing some exciting new technology to the table”. This statement worries me a bit, because it could mean above the BL X1E, which wouldn’t be very consumer (or prosumer) at all, and sounds like it’s very expensive.
I’m hoping we are looking at something like an X2 and potentially X2plus coming at the same time.
The innovative features sounds exciting. Who knows, maybe it’s an IDEX-system that will be it’s own series, the D1-series for example?
The message from Dr. Tao and Bambu Lab.
Dr. Tao, the Bambu Lab CEO is quoted saying; "We're building something that's going to push the boundaries of what's possible in consumer 3D printing. This extra time ensures we deliver on that promise, with a product that's fully ready and supported worldwide."
Dr. Tao is looking at this as consumer 3D printer still. While the A1 and P1 series for sure are targeted to consumers, the thing is that professionals are the ones buying X1-series 3D printers after the A1 series came out.
So to aim for consumer 3D Printers seems like a far fetch if the new model is to sit above the X1 series.
All of you who are looking to buy budget Bambu Lab 3D printers will probably have to wait for a A1-series refresh, because to me this statement seems to confirm the next bambu lab 3D Printer will be a high-end machine with actual cool features, targeted for the deeper pockets and needs.
Let’s hope the technology finds it’s way to an future A2-series 3D printer.
